Who We Are
Coalition
In all of Jeffco CTC’s coalition work, authentic youth engagement and centering youth voice is foundational. Jeffco CTC’s commitment is clear in the coalition’s mission, which is – in partnership with youth – to improve health, safety, and wellness in Jefferson County.
The coalition’s approach is rooted in prevention science. Rather than treating or intervening once a problem has emerged, Jeffco CTC works collaboratively to create a community that fosters well-being – strengthening protective factors that keep youth on a healthy path and reducing the risk factors that can lead to adverse health and well-being outcomes. Youth engagement and leadership is crucial as Jeffco CTC brings together key community stakeholders to create change. Based on youth data and focused on disparities and inequities found within populations, particularly BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth, Jeffco CTC focuses on three priorities: preventing substance misuse, mental wellness, and safety and connection. Data from both the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey and the Jeffco CTC Youth Town Hall Survey demonstrate the prevalence of these issues as well as the need to prioritize resources to create positive change.
History
Jeffco CTC was established in 2016, although its history dates back to 2012 as the Jeffco Connections Prevention Subcommittee. Originally based in Jefferson County Public Health, Jeffco CTC became a project of the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center (CNDC) in 2023.
