Positive Voice in Jefferson County

The Positive Voice in Jefferson County Initiative is a collective effort to empower and elevate the voices of those marginalized within our community. Recognizing we have more power and momentum together, we coordinate our efforts to advocate for our shared values, including health, safety, and well-being.  We foster connection as we take action to build a more inclusive community.

Discussion typically centers around the following questions:

  • What are you working on and how can folks support your efforts?
  • What are you seeing/hearing; what should folks know regarding what is happening within the community?
  • How can we best work together/coordinate our efforts?

Upcoming Meetings

  • Tuesday, October 21st, 12:00pm – 1:30pm
  • Tuesday, November 18th, 12:00pm – 1:30pm
  • Tuesday, December 16th, 12:00pm – 1:30pm

Youth Empowerment and Safety is an educational workshop designed to equip parents, caregivers, and professionals who work with youth with the knowledge and tools to prevent sexual violence and protect children from harm.

This program addresses the realities of sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and exploitation—focusing on how adults can recognize the warning signs, create safe environments, and have proactive, age-appropriate conversations with children.

Participants also learn how to respond to suspicion and disclosures of abuse with care and connect families with critical support resources. Participants will learn to:

• Understand definitions of sexual abuse, assault, and exploitation

• Recognize red flags and early warning signs of sexual abuse

• Use effective strategies to talk to children about consent and sexual violence

• Take proactive steps to prevent sexual abuse and exploitation in homes, schools, and communities and online

• Respond supportively to discoveries or disclosure of abuse

• Identify and access resources for survivors and their families

This training empowers adults to take an active role in protecting youth—building safer environments where children can thrive.

Children’s Program: For children impacted by a loved one’s substance use

This free three-day program provides substance use prevention and education in a safe, supportive setting.

Children learn they are not alone by meeting other children and families who have similar experiences. Through art, games, role-play and other fun activities, children learn to identify and express feelings, develop coping skills, build resilience, and deepen communication with their loved ones.

Parents or caregivers join their children for a portion of the program. This component includes education, support, and tools for families to continue conversations about substances and feelings. The Children’s Program helps caregivers and children open lines of communication and heal the hurt in their relationships in a shame-free environment.

Bringing children into the family recovery experience sparks the healing and momentum necessary to create multigenerational recovery and wellness.

Upcoming Dates:

  • October 30 – November 1
  • November 20 – 22
  • December 11 – 13

Location: 7000 E. Belleview Ave. Suite 200 Greenwood Village, CO 80111
